Join our team of teaching experts at the
Vancouver Aquarium for a new year of exciting programming. Dive into our
diverse ecosystems, learn about how scientists study animals and their
environments, and explore how our actions can have an impact on the
world around us through exclusive opportunities and fun hands-on activities.
To be eligible, you must be part of a homeschool group and/or homelearning family.

Series 1: Our Water, Our Home
Option A: Thursdays - October 12 AND November 9 AND December 7

Fabulous Frogs |
Have you ever been outside and heard chirping and
ribbiting? Chances are, you're more connected to frogs than you realize!
Dive into the watery world of frogs and learn about how your actions
affect their homes by conducting your own experiment. |
Underwater Armour |
Explore the diversity of animals that rely on shells for survival.
Discover why their armour is so important, how changing ocean conditions
can have a detrimental impact on them, and what we can do to help. |
Nurdles and Turtles |
Share stores about sea turtles and what makes them such unique
animals. Learn about the challenges they face and be empowered to make
effective changes to keep them healthy.

Scuba Science |
There's more to the oceans than meets the eye!
Understand the science behind diving and how it has changed. Then get a
hands-on opportunity to learn about the skills and equipment that divers

Ecosystem Engineers |
Get an up-close and personal look at our local animals in our renowned wet lab. Explore what they need to survive and the strategies that they use to stay safe. Then design your own animal home. |
Eating E-fish-ently
|
Eating seafood can be tasty and sustainable! Learn about what makes something sustainable or unsustainable. Then design your “ideal” sustainable fishing tool. | Series 3: Superheroes Amongst Us

Super Slime |
Why are some animals slimy? Go on a scavenger hunt for "slimy"
animals, explore the benefits and disadvantages of being slimy and then
make your own slime! |
Colossal Kelp |
Dive into the wonderful world of kelp right in our
backyard. Learn about the features of kelp, meet the amazing creatures
that call it home, and get an up-close look at the positive and negative
impacts of humans.
NOTE: This program has an outdoor component. Please dress
appropriately for spending time outdoors and at the beach (e.g. hats
sunscreen, jacket, beach appropriate footwear etc.). We recommend
water-resistant shoes or rubber boots; participants wearing open-toed
shoes may not be able to participate in all activities. |
