Academie Duello is a school of European Swordplay and Western Martial Arts devoted to teaching the weapons of the historical gentleman and warrior. Our Martial Arts training includes sword arts such as the rapier, sidesword, sword and shield, and long sword, as well as the quarterstaff, spear, knife and unarmed combat. Acadmie Duello has expaned the program for homelearners.. as well as the regular 1 hour class focusing on the western martial arts there is now a second program focusing on History from Acient Civilizations to the Medieval period. Homelearning students are welcome to join just one or both programs.
September 2010 Update
After much deliberation, Academie Duello has finalized our Home Learners classes and times for the fall 2010 semester. Unfortunately, due to constraints, we have decided to suspend our History portion for the coming session. I would like to thank everyone who had enjoyed the classes from last year and would like to inform you that we will continue to analyze whether or not to continue this offering in the coming months.
We will be offering 2 different time slots for swordfighting and weapons classes to create a greater diversity of educational opportunities for our students. The outline and times of the classes are listed below.
Study and Practice of Swordplay and Knightly Weapons (Intermediate): Intermediate lessons focus on Rapier, Longsword, Sword and Shield, Quarterstaff, Archery, Grappling
$240 +tax (ages 8-14, max class size 12) - This class is designed for students who have experience in classes through Academie Duello and will advance techniques and skills already learned. Instructor Roland Cooper.
Tuesdays, Sept 21st – Dec 14th, 2010 (13 weeks) 12:00am-1:30pm Study and Practice of Swordplay and Knightly Weapons (Beginners): Beginner's lessons focus on Rapier, Longsword, Sword and Shield, Quarterstaff, Archery, Grappling
$240 +tax (ages 8-14, max class size 12) - This class is designed for students who have no experience in classes through Academie Duello and will teach beginner's techniques and skills with multiple weapons. Instructor: Alex Rosin.
